Several media agencies have reported the rise in popularity of the internet in China. Articles about internet addiction are very common. I have one question about internet addiction in china, “Is it symptom of the desire for freedom?” China has a decently oppressive government. Freedom of speech and economic freedoms are greatly curtailed. However, the internet offers the people an unprecented level of freedom online, even with large limits placed on the chinese internet. On the internet you are much freer to say what you think and read what others think as well. Many games are also popular. Most of these games do offer large levels of freedom. It is probably easier to start in store in an MMO than in real life.

The Endangered Species act (ESA) violates the 5th amendment and the recent bill fixes some of the problems by providing just compenstation to the people effected by it. The 5th amendment states “nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.” If an endangered species is found on your property you are effectively prevented from using that property. Even if you still technically hold the deed, you are not allowed to use is it, maing it not property at all. This amounts to a taking of said property. One of the major points of this bill is to make the ESA conform to the 5th amendment.
